we found two beautiful used sofas to pick up. we added wheels, and during the night we placed the sofas in our school. we see the school as a self-regulating system, and we think a self-regulating system should behave like a homeostat. the homeostat suggests a society that develops through transformative experimentation with an open outcome. the building is a house full of rules, permissions, and prohibitions. any intervention requires permission or tolerance. the sofa as an intervention deliberately has no brakes and is therefore not seen by us as an object that is an integral part of the building. the sofa becomes part of the culture of the building, not the furnishings.
